    iPhone-optimized version or native client

Stack Overflow already works with Mobile Safari, but the experience is far from optimum.

I believe an iPhone-optimized version (or maybe even a native client) would be perfect.

    I can help with either.

I *love* requests that say "I can help!" but this should probably go in the "we want an API" bucket.

allow questions to be saved as drafts prior to posting

Many times it takes me a while to properly compose my question before posting it. Sometimes it's just a jumble of ideas and concepts and is not something I'd like to immediately be seen until I'm ready for that. However there is no way to save a partial question unless you post it.

    This should ... more

    Add anti-close votes

If you see a question with 4 close votes, allow the option to submit an anti-close vote that would reduce the close votes to 3.

Rather than waiting for the close to get to 5 and then needing to vote for open.

That way closed questions would be those where 5 more people think it should be closed... more

Provide a way to quickly link to a question within MarkDown under review

One of the nice features in FogBugz is the ability to type "case 17" in the body of a case, and have it automatically create a link to case #17.

If it's possible to extend MarkDown, it'd be great to be able to simply type "#17" in the body of a question or comment and have ... more

I don't think "#17" is narrow enough; it'd have to be a very unique string, like "question#17" or something like that. Anyone got ideas for more unique syntax that's inutitive?

    Bounty hunter badges

    I suggest two new badges:

    1) "Greedo" - first bounty earned (bronze)
    2) "Boba Fett" - earned 2000 rep through bounty (silver)

heh, I think we'll go more traditional, but the theme is right on

    Delete own profile

If someone wants to delete his own profile ("unsubscribe") he should be able to do so as easy as it is to subscribe.

I agree, but the danger here is that if someone gets access to your account, they could delete it "on your behalf". Email us at team@stackoverflow.com if you want to delete and we can do it same day.

Filter "My Tags" questions using "Interesting Tags" under review

It's confusing to me that the "My Tags" tab of the Unanswered questions page doesn't use my "Interesting Tags". Instead, it appears to use the 25 most overall popular tags that were on any question I ever answered. The current implementation doesn't end up displaying the una... more

Display the original question beneath the answer edit form under review

Often when I edit one of my answers, it's because I want to better address the original question. The only problem is that I can't see the original question while I'm editing my answer!

I'd love to see the original question text beneath the "answer edit" form. This way I could scroll... more

Add a <spoiler> tag that makes hidden-until-you-click text

    Use cases:

    1. Programming puzzles. This way the answer can be posted the same time as the question, eliminating doubt that no answer is possible for hard questions and proving that the question is not a homework exercise (since the author already has the answer)

See upvotes and downvotes as well as net votes

We only see net votes. Sometimes I'd find it interesting to see what the total # of upvotes and downvotes is.

Any chance we could put this in?

It doesn't have to be the default view. Maybe as a user option, a tooltip, etc.

    Notify comments for comments

You get to know about comments to your questions and answers, but not about reactions to your comments.

The system should notify me about new comments in questions or answers I have commented.

Put "edit" and/or "retag" on the question list pages.

If I'm editing or retagging a question, I don't like to have to go into the question page itself. This is particularly cumbersome when doing librarian work - retagging multiple questions to conform to naming shemes.

Mark tag as "interesting" or "ignored" from that tag's page under review

Right now, if I want to add a tag to my list of "interesting" or "ignored" tags, I have to go to the home page, type in the tag name, and click Add.

Refund downvote "cost" for upvoted comment on same question/answer

The idea of forcing a user to comment on a downvote has been brought up multiple times, and always rejected. There are certainly practical issues with it. For one thing, it would lead to pointless "asdfg" type comments.

However, we now have voting on comments, which means we can offer ... more

Add a link when closed as "Belongs on UserVoice"

Sometimes someone will post a feature request to the front page, which then is almost immediately closed as "Belongs on UserVoice". However, it's common that the person that posted the item isn't even aware of UserVoice, as the only link on SO is hidden at the bottom of the page.

It would be nice if there were some way to make collaboratively editing a post easier. As it stands right now, if two users attempt to edit the same post at the same time, the first edit may be lost.
